This rare St. Michael medal depicts the Archangel Michael with the church of Mont St. Michel on the reverse. The Mont is in a tidal area where the tides can vary by three dozen feet and more, and pilgrims visiting the Mont before the causeway was built would often be swept out to sea. For this reason, Mont St. Michel is referred to as "Peril of the Sea." A beautiful, medium-to-heavy weight piece.
