Louis Tricard was a fabulously talented French medalist who worked in the early 20th century. His pieces are rare and highly sought for their intricate beauty and gorgeous lettering. This St. Cecilia medal, with the Saint seated at a keyboard and lyres filling the background, is from a Tricard original. The reverse features a heavy rose wreath and the engraved date of August 4th, [19]20. St. Cecilia was a virgin martyr. She lived around 300 A.D. In her very short life, she converted many souls, including that of her husband and brother in law. Because she sang her prayers to the Lord in her heart on the occasion of her wedding, she is the patron saint of music, muscians and poets.
