In the time of Nero (after 54AD), Peter the Apostle tried to flee Rome to escape the persecutions there. On the Appian Way past the city gates, Peter encountered the Risen Christ, who appeared to be traveling into Rome. Peter asked Him, "Where are you going, Lord?" In the original Latin, quo vadis Domine? Jesus replied that He was going to Rome to be crucified again. Hearing this, Peter understood that his role was to be martyred, and he turned around to go back into Rome. The original of this medal was a very rare vintage find indeed! It is a heavier piece, perfect for tenners or to wear.
