The original of this fabulous Ave Maria/Lourdes medal was the creation of the famous French medalist Emile Dropsy. It is a large and weighty medal which features a gorgeous bust of Holy Mary, veiled with an ornate halo behind, and St. Bernadette kneeling before Holy Mary in the Lourdes grotto on the reverse. Our Lady of Lourdes is the Patroness of the ill and for protection against disease. This medal would be wonderful for a large-bead tenner or to wear. It is heavy for a rosary attachment.
