Round St. Martin of Tours Medal
Round St. Martin of Tours Medal
MRMM 10
St. Martin of Tours served in the Roman cavalry and became 3rd bishop of Tours in 371 A.D. While he was a soldier, he took pity on a beggar dressed in tatters in the middle of winter, and cut his Roman cloak in two with his sword. He gave half to the beggar (the other half belonged to Caesar). That night, St. Martin dreamt of Jesus and at dawn the cloak was restored. St. Martin was also known for his ability to root out the Devil and to cure the sick. This beautiful medal features St. Martin in Roman uniform upon his horse with the beggar outside the barrack gates. The reverse has gothic details and an open area for monogramming. The medal is large and heavy for a rosary, but is wonderful as a chaplet end medal or to wear.
