Chaplet of the Five Holy Wounds

(Passionist version)

Configuration

Five wounds, Ecce Homo, or Our Lady of Sorrows end medal +
3 beads on the drop portion +
left foot station link or offset bead to form the chaplet center +
5 sets of 5 beads (quintets) separated by station links or beads.

The suggested order of the stations links is as follows:

1. left foot
2. right foot
3. left hand
4. right hand
5. side/heart

These may be in clockwise or counterclockwise order on the circle portion. The traditional bead color is red.

This chaplet was originated by the Passionists in the 1820's. They made the chaplet very simple to pray, and handed them out in order to encourage rosary prayer and conversions. How to pray the chaplet of the Five Holy Wounds

On the end medal, make the sign of the cross.

On the first bead above the end medal, pray:
Incline to my aid, O God. O Lord, make haste to help me.

On the second bead above the end medal, pray:
Glory be to the Father and to the Son and to the Holy Spirit.
As it was in the beginning, is now, and forever shall be, world without end. Amen.

On the third bead above the end medal, pray:
Holy Mother pierce me through. In my heart each wound renew, of my Savior crucified.

On the 1st wound medal or offset bead (left foot) at the center, announce:
The Wound in the Sacred left foot + pray one Hail Mary in honor of Our Lady of Sorrows.
While contemplating the wound of the left foot, pray one Glory Be on each bead of the quintet which follows.

On the 2nd medal or offset bead (right foot), announce:
The Wound in the Sacred right foot + pray one Hail Mary in honor of Our Lady of Sorrows.
While contemplating the wound of the right foot, pray one Glory Be on each bead of the quintet which follows.

On the 3rd medal or offset bead (left hand), announce:
The Wound in the Sacred left hand + pray one Hail Mary in honor of Our Lady of Sorrows.
While contemplating the wound of the left hand, pray one Glory Be on each bead of the quintet which follows.

On the 4th medal or offset bead (right hand), announce:
The Wound in the Sacred Right Hand + pray one Hail Mary in honor of Our Lady of Sorrows.
While contemplating the wound of the right hand, pray one Glory Be on each bead of the quintet which follows:

On the 5th medal or offset bead (Jesus' side), announce:
The Wound in the Sacred Side + pray one Hail Mary in honor of Our Lady of Sorrows.
While contemplating the wound of the side, pray one Glory Be on each bead of the quintet which follows.
