Chaplet of St. Michael the Archangel

Configuration

St. Michael end medal + 4 beads + 1st salutation bead + center medal + 9 sets of 3 beads on the circle, with each set separated by a Salutation bead (total of 8 salutation beads on the circle portion).

The St. Michael chaplet was given by St. Michael in a revelation to a Portuguese Carmelite nun, Antonia d'Astonac, to honor the nine Choirs of Angels. It was approved by Pope Pious IX in the mid-1800s.

Certain promises are joined to the daily recitation of this chaplet by the faithful, including the assistance of St. Michael and the Holy Angels in life, and deliverance after death of their souls and the souls of their relatives from Purgatory.

The traditional colors of the St. Michael chaplet are blue and white, as shown in the chaplet to the right, created for long-time customer John Z. in Ohio, or purple and white. This chaplet is also beautiful with a different color for each of the Choirs.

How to pray the Chaplet of St. Michael the Archangel

On the end medal, pray:
O God, come to my assistance! O Lord, make haste to help me! Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit. As it was in the beginning, is now, and forever shall be, world without end. Amen.

Skipping the first 4 beads on the drop, move to the 1st Salutation bead just below the chaplet center piece. On each of the large or offset (Salutation) beads, announce the Salutation and pray one Our Father. On each bead of the triplet which follows, pray one Hail Mary.

On the 1st Salutation bead (just below the center), announce:
By the intercession of St. Michael and the celestial Choir of Seraphim may the Lord make us worthy to burn with the fire of perfect charity. Amen. + 1 Our Father + 3 Hail Marys.

On the 2nd Salutation bead, announce:
By the intercession of St. Michael and the celestial choir of Cherubim may the Lord grant us the grace to leave the ways of sin and run in the paths of Christian perfection. Amen. + 1 Our Father + 3 Hail Marys.

On the 3rd Salutation bead, announce:
By the intercession of St. Michael and the celestial choir of Thrones may the Lord infuse into our hearts a true and sincere spirit of humility. Amen. + 1 Our Father + 3 Hail Marys.

On the 4th Salutation bead, announce:
By the intercession of St. Michael and the celestial choir of Dominions may the Lord gives us grace to govern our senses and overcome any unruly passions. Amen. + 1 Our Father + 3 Hail Marys.

On the 5th Salutation bead, announce:
By the intercession of St. Michael and the celestial choir of Powers may the Lord protect our souls against the snares and temptations of the devil. Amen. + 1 Our Father + 3 Hail Marys.

On the 6th Salutation bead, announce:
By the intercession of St. Michael and the celestial choir of Virtues may the Lord preserve us from evil and falling into temptation. Amen.
+ 1 Our Father + 3 Hail Marys.

On the 7th Salutation bead, announce:
By the intercession of St. Michael and the celestial choir of Principalities may God fill our souls with a true spirit of obedience. Amen. + 1 Our Father + 3 Hail Marys.

On the 8th Salutation bead, announce:
By the intercession of St. Michael and the celestial choir of Archangels may the Lord give us perseverance in faith and in all good works in order that we may attain the glory of Heaven. Amen. + 1 Our Father + 3 Hail Marys.

On the 9th Salutation bead, announce:
By the intercession of St. Michael and the celestial choir of Angels may the Lord grant us to be protected by them in this mortal life and conducted in the life to come in Heaven. Amen. + 1 Our Father + 3 Hail Marys.

Move now to the 4 beads of the drop which were skipped previously. Descending back toward the end medal, pray one Our Father on each in honor of St. Michael, St Gabriel, St. Raphael, and the Guardian Angel.

Closing prayer on the end medal:
O glorious prince St. Michael, chief and commander of the heavenly hosts, guardian of souls, vanquisher of rebel spirits, servant in the house of the Divine King and our admirable conductor, you who shine with excellence and superhuman virtue, deliver us from all evil, who turn to you with confidence. Enable us by your gracious protection to serve God more and more faithfully every day.

Pray for us, O glorious St. Michael, Prince of the Church of Jesus Christ, that we may be made worthy of His promises.

Almighty and Everlasting God, Who, by a prodigious goodness and a merciful desire for the salvation of all men, has appointed the most glorious Archangel St. Michael Prince of Your Church, make us worthy, we ask You, to be delivered from all our enemies, that none of them may harass us at the hour of death, but that we may be conducted by him into Your Presence. This we ask through the merits of Jesus Christ Our Lord. Amen.
