The Chaplet of St. Anne

Handmade St. Anne Chaplet in plum-red quartz and Sterling.

Configuration

St. Anne medal + 1 Our Father bead on the drop
+ center medal + 3 sets of five beads each (quintets) above the center, with 1 Our Father bead between each set (2 Our Father beads total on the circle portion).

 

There are no particular bead colors associated with this popular chaplet, which dates from c. 1870s.

 

St. Anne is the mother of Holy Mary, and grandmother to Jesus.  She is the Patroness of women in labor, seamstresses, grandmothers, miners and cabinet makers.

 

Some symbols associated with St. Anne are a door or gate, baby Mary held on St. Anne's lap, and St. Anne with a book, teaching Holy Mary to read.

How to pray the St. Anne chaplet

On the end medal, make the sign of the cross.

 

On the 1st Our Father (the large bead on the drop), pray:

In honor of Jesus + 1 Our Father

On each bead of the 1st five beads on the circle portion (quintet), pray:

1 Hail Mary, adding after each Hail Mary the prayer: Jesus, Mary and St. Anne, grant the favor I request.

 

On the 2nd Our Father bead, pray:

In honor of Mary + 1 Our Father

On each bead of the 2nd quintet, pray:

1 Hail Mary, adding after each Hail Mary the prayer: Jesus, Mary and St. Anne, grant the favor I request.

 

On the 3rd Our Father bead, pray:

In honor of St. Anne + 1 Our Father.

On each bead of the 3rd quintet, pray:

1 Hail Mary, adding after each Hail Mary the prayer: Jesus, Mary and St. Anne, grant the favor I request.

 

Closing prayer on the end medal:

Good St. Anne, you were especially favored by God to be the mother of the most holy Virgin Mary, the Mother of our Savior. By your power with your most pure daughter and with her divine Son, kindly obtain for us the grace and the favor we now seek. Please secure for us also forgiveness of our past sins, the strength to perform faithfully our daily duties and the help we need to persevere in the love of Jesus and Mary. Amen.
