Peanut wood is a petrified wood which began its journey as trees which fell in Australia during the cretaceous period, appoximately 100 million years ago! Peanut wood is nothing short of gorgeous -- and very rare cut as rounds. These beads high end and a rich chocolate brown, which contrasts beautifully with the whites, yellows and greys which also compose the stone. I've posted two photos of the Ave beads; one to show you patterning, and the second to try to show you the fabulous dark translucency which gives the beads so much depth. I usually pair peanut wood with mammoth ivory, but to keep the price in check as well as I could, I've used carved ox bone "acorns" for the Paters here. Beautiful!
